Warning: BigChurch is NOT a Christian site

Written by Wade Tonkin on October 11, 2007 – 11:58 am -

I just visited a site for an affiliate in one of the programs I work on and I was surprised and disappointed to see a HUGE banner for BigChurch.com taking up some substantial real estate. A few months back, I did some research on the “Christian Dating” sites and found a few that are definitely not Christian in ownership or intent.

BigChurch is operated by FriendFinder Network Inc. These guys are the same folks who bring us such “biblical” sites as:

  • Passion.com
  • AdultFriendFinder.com
  • LesbianPersonals.com
  • Outpersonals.com
  • Bondage.com
  • ALT.com
  • Cams.com
  • GayFriendFinder.com

I doubt that most Christian sites audiences, especially the more conservative would want to associate with a site the promotes a company that advocates adultery, not to mention the other stuff.

FriendFinder and some other sites specialize in “white labeling” sites to address niche audiences (Christian Dating) without actually sharing the beliefs of that audience.

Looking for a quality Christian dating site to work with? There are some great ones. Check out CatholicMatch, ChristianCafe, ChristianMingle, DatingDisciples and coming soon, SinglesofFaith.com.

God Bless,

Wade Tonkin

I think you should reconsider your narrow view of Christianity. Gay people need dating too and that is not anti-Christian. Only closed mindedness… people made the same comments 100 years ago promoting slavery.

To be honest, it’s not the gay or lesbian dating that I was going after - it’s the fact that most of their properties promote adulterous lifestyles pretty flagrantly.

I wanted Christian webmasters to know all that these guys are about so they can make their own decisions - with all the information out there and with their own faith experience and tradition as a filter.

More than anything… it’s important that people understand that this company is making a TON of money promoting and facilitating behavior that most mainstream, Evangelical and Catholic Chistians would consider non-biblical and choose to open up a “Christian” site because they look at Christians as “just another niche” to make money on.

    Wade-

Thanks for this important post! I joined Big Church when I was first looking for affiliate programs. Only later did I realize that they were associated with these other programs. Yes, your right, I do want to be able to make an informed decision about which companies I want to send my web traffic to, and Big Church is not one of them!

This post will save others the trouble as well, Thanks for the good work!

    In Christ,

    Valerie

We’ll be launching a program for them in the next couple of weeks on MannaMarketing.com and in Shareasale. They are the real deal and have an awesome backstory as well that we are lookign forward to telling.

    God Bless,

    Wade

Why do Gay’s always try to tie themselves to African Americans? Gay is a lifestyle. African American is a race of people. Not the same.

Thanks for posting, but I really don’t want to get into this debate here.
